MARK SUBEN ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR CORTLAND COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY
Respected County Attorney to run platform on good judgment, efficiency and competence

Cortland, New York (May 29, 2008) - The anticipated announcement by County Attorney Mark Suben for Cortland County District Attorney was made today, fittingly on the county courthouse steps in the city of Cortland, to the applause of a healthy crowd of supporters.

"My campaign is not about politics.  It's not about being a Republican or Democrat.  As a matter of fact, my campaign committee is made up of both.  No, this campaign is about competence and judgment" Suben remarked. "
It's about the citizens of Cortland County."

Suben expects the endorsement of the Cortland County Democratic Party and to run as that party's candidate for the office. He also commented he, of course, welcomes the support of other parties as well.

In a concise statement, Suben addressed the most glaring issues facing the controversial District Attorney's office. He questioned the debate on a new county jail; criticized the current administration's questionable judgment in some highly publicized prosecutions. He remarked on the office's unwillingness to communicate with other attorneys pointing out that this peculiar habit leads to extended jail time simply because cases can't be resolved. Virtually all of the current district attorney's policies lead to wasted tax payer dollars at all stages of the justice system.

Suben, add one….

In his remarks, Suben promised significant change in all areas, to benefit law enforcement, the people in general and particularly our families.

Although the anticipated Democratic nominee, the Suben campaign committee and supporters are largely bi-partisan, which Suben feels demonstrates that the current problems in the District Attorney's office are managerial, not political. "
I'm running because I was asked to run, by a lot of people, from all political parties and walks of life," Suben said. "
And I'm honored by that, and I accept the challenge on behalf of the good people of this county."
